ROSWELL. Said to be a con'uption of the French Eosseville. It is therefore local, but I know not the place. Kent, in his Grammar of Heraldry, speaks of the Eev. Sam. Eosewell, of London, M.A., as "descended from the Eosewells, of Somersetshire, Vviltshire, and Devon, who came in with the Conqueror."
