LUTTMANN. See Lutman. The extinct family of this name, formerly located at Idehurst and Sparr, in the parish of Wisborough Green, co. Sussex, anciently wrote themselves Lutemares})re or Lidemarespe alias Lotcmanespe. These spellings occur in undated deeds ; but in the reign of Edw. IIL the name had settled down to Lutma', i.e. Lutman. The seal attached to all the early charters of the family is S. WILL' D'LVTHMARSPE, from which it would appear that some local name, whatever its ancient form, had b(3come corrupted into Luttman. Inf. H. F. Napper, Esq.
