(origin: Celtic or Gaelic.) Coamhanach, mild, benevolent, merciful; a friend, a companion. Mr. John O'Donovan says, that Donnell Cavanagh was so called from having been fostered by the Coarb of St. Cavan, at Kilcavan, in the present county of Wexford, Ireland.
