It was a kind of generic appellative, including the Thatchers, Tylers, Slaters, Shinglers, and Eeeders, all of whom are also separately represented in our family nomenclature. In Walsingham's History, the arch-traitor, Wat Tyler, is designated " Walterus Helier."
