ELLICOTT. In old Irish records this name is written inditi'erently Mac Elligott and 2Iac Lrod. "The family originally came to Kerry in consequence of an early marriage of one of the Fitz -Maurices, Barons of Lixnaw, with an heiress of that name ; and by reason of this connection Fitz-Maurice is said to bear a tower in his coat of arms ; and a parish of Kerry, near Tralee, is called Bally-Mac-Elligott."
