According to AVootton's Baronetage the iluuily are descended from Wolstan, earl of Ellenden (now called Wilton) who married the sister of Egbert, the first monarch of all England ; and there are other traditions of their immense antiquity. The name is probably not very ancient, and the heralds' Visitations only commence the pedigree with Wolstan Dixie who flourished about the time of Edw. III.
