It occurs in the neighbourhood of English forests and chases from Yorkshire to Devonshire. - - - - The import of the name, then, is the Rode of Orme, the land reclaimed by him or his predecessors, from the forest. - - - The local name was assumed in or before tlie reign of Henry III."
